About Jeff Sartain
Hello and welcome to my page. I seem to have been involved with art in one fashion or another for as long as I can remember. I had a commercial sign and screen printing business for many years and was able to do quite a bit of pictorial work. When I left that business for other pursuits I filled the creative void by becoming more involved in fine art.
I draw a lot of inspiration from the spirit of place and the natural environment that surrounds me. This region was once known as the heartland of Apacheria at one point in time, but the layers of time run much deeper and reveal themselves in this unique landscape.
Clear expansive skies and grassland seas. The geometry of mountains and patina painted palisades mingle with my own abstract thought forms. The scent of rain swept creosote bush wafts up from a distant valley and has a way of getting inside you, while the highlands of old Mexico beckon on the southern horizon. Cactus dreams and pictographs fuel the imagination. An ancient juniper guards the silence and I see my own wild soul reflected in the stillness of a canyon tinaja. I would like for my art to be that reflection. A road map of my own earth wanderings. The place where inner and outer intersect, where myth and mystery make good companions.
Thanks for looking, I hope you see something you like. Send me a message if you are interested in original works.
